I just got something on my FB page from Road ID that said George Hincapie and his 8y/o son had a gun pulled on them by a driver while on a ride. Pic of the car & plate. Anyone else hear this? I'd copy/link, but I'm at work so I'm not even supposed to be on FB... shhhh!

Quick Internet search doesn't show anything. Didn't check FB or Twitter.

Scary! Since he's a "celebrity" they might even look into it whereas were it you or I it'd be "it's he said/she said, we didn't see it so there's nothing we can do". Nevertheless, if it gets one idiot with a gun off the road it's a positive.

Interesting, I did a Google search and only found the Op listed. Really hope this is not true.

UK site.

The post is set for "visible to friends". For me it's not visible since I'm only friends of friends, not a friend. It won't be visible to anyone who is not Hincapie's direct friend.

That's the pic I saw. RoadID put it out. Man, at least no one has pulled a gun on me while I was riding.

That's going to be good PR for that fancy dancy bike hotel he and his brother built. "Cmon, y'all, and be target practice for the local yahoos."

Doesn't matter who the rider is. That driver is a POS who needs to be taken out and taken off the road ASAP.

I suspect there's something more to this story. It takes a pretty rabid psychopath to run a family on bikes off the road then pull a gun. I have no clue what may have gone on, but, we're off the scale for even a jerk off wacko here.

At this point probably they know exactly who the guy is and as it happened with another driver would not surprise me that the dude is already getting cr@p for what he did.

This driver is going to suffer hell from the cycling community.

Started already... insurance will go up for sure.

With a photo of the car, why didn't he file a police report?

Because he's on double secret probation courtesy of USADA. House arrest :)

And we all thought he got away with it

Pulling a gun on a guy with his kid is pretty low

Alright, allow me to say it.

Pulling a gun on anyone is completely f***tarded. Period.

Hincapie showed poor judgment by posting the photo on social media. He should have provided the photo and a complete statement to law enforcement. Putting the photo on the internet and leaving it to the court of public opinion will likely turn out badly. It will be interesting to see how this turns out...

Attempted assault & pulls gun & you have pic of plates, there better be law enforcement involved.

And for only $2.95 you can find out all about this guy and his past driving history.

According to what's being said and shown on FB, it's starting to look like this incident might be a hoax.

Interesting that report states that as of Thursday afternoon, Hincapie hasn't contacted the Sheriff's office.

Something doesn't seem right. The guy allegedly pulled a gun on him while he's riding with his kid and he goes to social media instead of the police? Strange behavior and brings to mind the Ryan Lockte incident from the Olympics.

Edit- I need to type quicker. Helmut beat me this time.

Subaru is a very common vehicle out in the sticks here in Central PA. I live along a route that a lot of people take from town out into the hinterlands, and I probably get as many close passes from Subarus as I do from pickups.
