I wonder about the drafting allowance that UMBA has. Was she able to draft other riders for a lot of this mileage?

Doing laps around a park for 29000 miles doesn't exactly sound like fun, have to say.

Yes, she drafts. Has a 'standard' and recumbent bike. She did this through the summer here in the Tampa FL area. Not many can take the heat index for a few days in a row, let alone 4 months. A seven mile loop would get real boring, but it is car free and she has company from other riders there every day.

Chapeau

That is a serious case of OCD, IMO.

Props to her, it's impressive no matter the circumstances. No negativity from me.

Props to her, it's impressive no matter the circumstances. No negativity from me.agreed! the more incredible part is that she's on pace to beat Kurt Searvogel's record. he averaged around 205 miles a day, she's doing 230. if she keeps it up, she'll beat his 75k by about another 6k.

Damn, my end of season goal is to ride a 21 mile time trial at 20mph average.

I like the fact that she's just a kid compared to most of the people that attempt this. She has a go fund me page so I'll be pitching in a few bucks here and there as she keeps rolling.

That she beat the women's record for a year in 130 days is pretty damn impressive even if the whole thing is a bit silly.

Stunning effort! Chapeau!

Impressive comeback from the injuries she suffered 5 years ago.

Her drafting is pretty minimal IMO. By watching her rides on Strava, she has some days were people come out & ride part of day with her. Of course there's probably others not on Strava riding w her at times?

The silly thing is the trolls who comment on the lack of elevation. Its a mileage contest! And she is an impressive beast to go on day in and day out 12 + hrs per day!

She is doing 240 miles in 12 hours every single day. Wow. More than impressive.

Think about it. She is doing a sub 10 hour double century every day.

Let's be honest. How many of us can do one solo double century in under ten hours. How many have ever done a double solo in under 10 hours?

Is it silly? Probably no more than other cycling challenges. What compels someone to try to break 50, 55, 60, or 65 minutes on a 40 Km TT? Strava?

I follow her on strava, IIRC she's just running the same flat section of path in some park or national forest. 6 mile loop or out and back or something?

Much less impressive than the previous attempts. But I'm not out there so what do I know...;)

I doubt there are many forum members who could keep pace with her for one week. Doing a 10 hour double century pace day afte day is remarkable whether in a velodrome, park loop or out on roads. Sticking to a loop home base is smart. Ease of logistics mostly. Flat. Wind minimized. Cuts safety risks.
