seller was not much help with sizing. I think it's a size 50 based on the head tube junction. anyone else hazard a guess??

I don't understand sellers that don't want to help their sale. You mean he/she couldn't turn it over and read the S# or measure the top tube? Thats just nuts!

Looks like about a 50 to me.

I had one of those, same color. Only complaint is that the paint was soft. I'm not usually an aluminum fan except mtn bikes, but my 8:30 was awesome

it is not much bigger than a 51 or 52 based on that front junction.

i would guess 50 as well, no idea on top tube.

i'm hoping it's a 50 or 51 at most, and not custom.

Man, always tough to guess from a picture. Now this one doesn't look like it, but there was a peg around here that was a 56.5 top tube with a head tube about that short!

AngryScientist

yea, hopefully that's not the case here. this one looks like a pretty "square" frame, seat tube and top tube look about the same.

...is there some benefit to having the top and down tubes meet so close to each other rather than angling the top tube up a little?

geo chart here-

small frames with 700c wheels are almost never square. no room for toes.

they made these in 1cm increments?

Yea - horizontal top tube!

i asked the seller to measure the top tube center to center for me, and he vaguely indicated it was 53, so, based on that, my best guess is this is either a 50, 51 or 52 frame. only time will tell.

Camera angle and lens can play tricks on perception, but based on the height of the wheel relative to the ST and TT junction, I'd guess 51 or maybe even 52. 53 TT might also be correct.

EDIT: I just took a look at my 49cm Merckx, and I'd say 50-51 ST w/ a 52-53 TT.

I'd bet its a 49 or 50 with that short of head tube and not custom since 830am was kind of a production run afaik..you might send the pic to gita to see they can determine,if getting the serial number isn't an option or maybe google pics of 49,50,51cm aluminum pegorettis.

Hell, if it had a sloping top tube, we'd just call it a Small and be done with it.

Tiny?

I'm not much help...:)

if you know the stem length you could get a fairly good estimate by extrapolation of the pictured TT?

Can they read the serial number? Get that and call Gita, ask for Nelson.

that would have been a good idea. too late now, bike is shipped. we'll see what shows up at the door.

Have them measure the head tube and then line it up with the geo chart. It's hard to get "operator error" with that.

Also I own that 56.5 with the 12cm head tube and its 100% custom even down to the paint and decals. This one looks stock.

Not to worry.

I rode and enjoyed a 58 Palosanto for awhile before stumbling upon my 56 Duende here a few yrs ago... they're such great bikes that a little stem/seatpost futzing around may well be worth it.

And if not, the resale value holds up well.

yea thwart, that's what i'm thinking. if it doesnt fit i'm sure someone here will be happy to have it.

What the hell happened to the previous comment made just a few days ago??
"if i weren't overloaded with bikes right now i'd be very interested." (http://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=193667)???

hehehe...

Hey Angry pal....I don't blame you at all....it's a Peg--ore--tti...after all, great score! It's karma coming back to you for helping Hill pal scored his Peg Cross bike earlier on.

:hello:

I like the way you think. :p

Who am I to call the kettle black...I just built a new puppy up last night. Here's a sneak peak, any guess what it is?

Congrats Nick, looks like a nice frame.

I'm thinking 50ish also...here's a pic of my old 50cm (stock) Duende and they look very similar. Had a minor bit of toe overlap, but nothing even remotely concerning. You'll love how it rides.

it looks like a 51 to me as well.

Why not use the known wheel diameter or the chain ring diameter as a scale and measure the length of the seat tube.

This would be far easier if the photo wasn't taken at an angle to the side of the bike... little tough doing it like this.

nice score! most folks can ride a few sizes of pegs...adjust eTT via 100-110-120.

for instance I can ride a 54/120, or a 55/110, or a 56/110 or 100....its' about HT and stem length...and how you want to ride it.
