Thinking of trying a pair of these, but the reviews I see online seem to vary quite a bit in terms of folks sizing up or down...
Can anyone compare to Shimano sizing?
I am a 45 in Shimano & Specialized, was thinking of 45.5 in Giro. None of my LBS's stock these, so its mailorder and best guessing...
Also, how is the width? Will they be way narrower than Shimano/Specialized?

Thx!!

haven't ridden in Specialized shoes but for me, my Giro sizing is the same as Shimano (43). my advice: order two sizes and return one.

I wear a 45 Specialized and have pretty normal feet (ie not super narrow/wide, no weird arch or anything) and had to go up to a 45.5 for my Empires.

My shoes:
Shimano R171 = 43.5 (44 too big)
Shimano RT-82 = 45 (44 too small)
Giro Empire = 44.5
so yeah, thismy advice: order two sizes and return one.

I wear 45 Specialized and got 45 Giros and they were too small, I had to sell them

From the shops I've talked to, they have all stopped selling Giro shoes because they're always on closeout price online

Yeah, except they are really nice shoes. I have given up on brick and mortar.

My Empires fit .5 size bigger than Shimano. Empires are very comfortable.

Foot shape comes into play. I wear 43.5 in both Shimano and Specialized very comfortably. I couldn't get Empires to feel comfortable in any size I tried because they are narrower in the forefoot.

I'm a 44.5 in Shimano, Giro, and Specialized. The giros definitely feel smaller than the rest of them, and probably could get away with a .5 size up.

+1 for ordering multiple sizes.

An option might be...Specialized now makes a lace-up version of their S-Works shoe.

Echoing size up .5 for Giro Empires. They run narrow and really dont stretch much at all. I've race Cx in them for 2 years now.

My last two pairs of shoes (Bont Vaypor+ and Empires) have both been 42.5s. The giros seem a little tighter than the Bonts.

I also have a pair of medium ancient size 42 Bontrager mtb shoes that fit better than either of those two.

Also, Bont should make a shoe called the Rager.

That was funny.

Small thread drift--I do really like my Bont-Rager XXX lite shoes tho. I paid full price online and worth every penny. (And I only 'thot' my Spec S-Works shoes were good).
