Saw this in Pringle SD. Best part was the bar next door called the Hitchrail Saloon.

Link? There is no link, except the embedded link to the pic using the IMG tag. No luck?

I forgot the rest of the story.

So, we go to the bar and end up talking with the locals. Very nice people, very willing to talk to the tourists. We explain how we saw the bike sculpture and asked where all the bikes came from. Bob (one of the locals) says that they wait by the bike trail, and when a rider rides by, they bonk him on the head, and take his bike. Loved it.

Hey thanks, I was thinking about you guys on D2R2 day. That's two in a row I've missed now.

We're on the road 'til we don't want to do it anymore - or until one of kills the other. We're loving it. Travel tip: Custer SP and the Black Hills. Go there, bring a gravel bike, and see some gorgeous stuff. The kids will love it.

Much better than the dull bike sculpture in the Megacities exhibit in the MFA this summer....

http://www.mfa.org/exhibitions/megacities-asia

Went hoping to see a few gems in the mix.... nothing all the same generic "forever" branded bikes....meh

That jumble reminds me of a mangled mess of metal at the dump, once found a Tomassini in there, unfortunately too mangled to even remove :crap:

This one was cool.
I saw it a few years ago in Parkersburg Iowa on RAGBRAI. Built from bikes found after a F5 tornado destroyed part of town. One of the best town I have ever been in in Iowa. So resilient after such a tragedy.

I'm not sure how I missed the post that started this thread but....in Pringle? There are enough bikes in that sculpture to outfit the entire population of Pringle with some left over.

This looks a lot like the first one, to me. The chain face is very cool, though.

Looks more like a bicycle junk yard to me.
