A quick search of the forum didn't deliver a lot of results. Can anybody chime in with real world results? I just ordered a set on a whim. They were on sale and look really nice.

The only thing I've seen with some users is premature wear of the braking surface. However it was not clear whether there was debris or other issues between the brake pad and the surface. I would think that if the issue was widespread, we'd heard more about it.

I have been thinking about those myself.

That's kinda what I'm seeing too. I can find more information on the Campy Shamal Mille wheelset. They both use the same coating and most reviews of the Campy version report zero brake wear after a year or two of use. I just can't get past the rear wheel spoke pattern on the Mille. And the Fulcrum was a good deal.

Fwiw my Shamal Mille's eat brake pads. About to get on my third set this year since picking the wheels up in February. I am hard on them going downhill here in the Bay Area, and more of a brake dragger than a lot of my riding buddies when the road goes downhill.

That being said, the brake track is pristine. Price you pay I guess.

So go ahead and order a backup set of those blue pads. You'll need 'em.

Good to know! I was wondering how the long mountain descents I ride would wear the pads. Where do you buy the replacement pads from?

Wherever I can find them in stock. Its a bit of a scramble honestly since they're just used for this one wheel. And since I've swapped to eeBrakes, it's even more complicated with finding Shimano compatible.

So I just buy 2-3 sets whenever I find them available. Whether its my local shop or Amazon, I just grab 'em whenever.

I have a set of r-sys SLR and shamal Mille. Both have the Keronite molecular treatment that so done in the UK. It is not a coating.

I only run them in dry and no wear on the tracks. The aesthetic is still as new

Mavic pads are four for $100. Campy pads are four for $25. Go figure. Same pad

If you buy the fulcrums with a Shimano body order extra pads since the Shimano style are not easily found in the USA

My pal teammurray has the fulcrum zero nite. He bought those since running eTap on his C60. Look great.

The campy fulcrum track is milled slightly different from the Mavic. The Mavic makes a whrrrrrrr when slowing. The campy is silent.

Lately I have been getting front brake screech on the Mille with light pressure. Harder pressure it's quiet.
But still in first set of pads. Will see once go second set.

The first set of pads is generally acknowledged to burn through faster.

The look is the only reason I bought them over the standard shamal

pdmtong, your bike looks awesome! The spoke pattern on the Mille looks much better on the bike than on their own.

Some reviewers said pad wear decreased after a while. I hope that's true. If not, no biggie. I can't find replacements for $25.

What tires (and size) are using in the picture?

Amazon has a number of options, most from Japan, and not terribly cheap sadly.

But yes, look way better on the bike than on their own.

Tires are Vittoria open pave 700x24

I was never a fan of the G3 but got over it. The fulcrum spokes are spread a bit more apart.

Looks better mounted than alone. I found the silver nipples distracting at first coming from wheels with black nipples but got used to that too.

Clearly if you don't have a green bike this wheel may hot be for you

I think we've proven they work wonderfully on bikes that range from hunter/british racing green to seafoam.

Hahahaha. Mine is closer to the fiat abarth color. Whatever that is.

And in All this excitement I forgot to add that I do think the braking is more powerful with the Keronite versus standard aluminum track.

I have a set of Racing Zero's with 2-way fit (std color scheme, tho) and Campy cassette body. I've probably got 3,000+/- miles on them. Absolutely love them; would not hesitate to buy another set of Fulcrum wheels. I know 3k isn't a ton of miles but so far have not noticed anything that looks like premature or excessive wear on the brake tracks. Never had these wheels in the shop for anything and they are straight/true. I'm a 180-200 pound rider, so durability is an important factor for me. Very light, hubs still spin well, no extra play and they ride very nice IMO.

I've had my shamal mille's for about 18 months, still look brand new. pads wear substantially quicker. I buy pads for $26 from a Chicago shop through ebay. I just bougth the new Shamal C17'S, but went for the standard silver brake surface. Love them.

Don't mean to hijack this thread, but Paul, when'd you get a second Vanilla/Speedvagen?! Looks awesome!

OK, so the 2016 version of wheelset is not available to the shop I ordered from. They're offering the new, wider Nite C17's for the same price. I'm nervous they might be too wide. How do the new C17 Nite's compare to 303's in terms of width? The Fulcrum spec's are really hard to read. I'm not sure I'm on the wider is better band wagon.

Too wide... for what?

Wider may not be noticeably better but it certainly is not worse unless you have a frame with absurdly tight clearances. Does make changing wheels slightly more annoying if you have a lot of other narrow wheels though.

I'm worried a wider rim will feel "sluggish". I'm OK with the with the width of my 303's. They look really wide to me, but ride amazing.

Looks like the internal width of the C17 is 17mm and the Zipp's are 17.5. I should be OK with the newer version. I'll post a pic once I get them installed.

That must be an east coast/west coast thing. The local Walmart here in Texas don't have no Campagnolo sekshun.

Good call. Fulcrum takes a conservative approach to "wide" rims and the new Nites should be fantastic. FWIW, though, even wider rims won't feel sluggish either, especially with the right size tires and pressure.

Wow, wow, wow! The Fulcrums are amazing! Super smooth and spin up very fast! I've been riding carbon clinchers for a while and find the braking acceptable. But the braking on the Nites is second to none, simply amazing wheels. Very pleased with this purchase. I'm also glad I ended up with the newer wider version. Installed tires / tubes without tool.

I removed the arrow stickers right out of the box. I'm thinking the "Fulcrum" stickers are next to go.

The rear hub is almost silent. It started to loosen up and make a little noise around 20 miles. I'm hoping it breaks in more and makes more sound.

Crappy cell phone shot for your viewing pleasure.
