Been thinking of going to a race at Circuit of the Americas.
Amtrak goes from STL to Austin, making for a leisurely trip and a means to take a bike along.

First, how would it be to get around by bike?
Would look to get from Amtrak station to hotel to COTA, possibly to entertainment district.
Would riding in race traffic be suicidal? Overly ambitious?

Second, how about lodging?
I imagine everything would be at a premium on a race weekend.
Would need something reasonably located, no four night minimum at $200 a night, and just need the minimum in lodging (college dorm?).

Suggestions?

Thanks.

Sounds like a fun, yet ambitious idea.

A couple of things:

-Yes, it would be suicidal to ride on any of the roads around COTA that weekend.
-There are buses that run from downtown and other parts of the City out to the race. You could always ride your bike to one of those spots and take a bus out to COTA.
-Hotel prices will be ridiculous that weekend all around Austin, but especially so in the downtown area where it would be easier to pick up a bus out to the event.

I would imagine that there are a number of options that you could consider if luxurious accommodations aren't a requirement. There are a couple of hostels close by AND multiple options these days around renting a room or crashing on someone's couch. Perhaps those might work?

Downtown is a lot of fun during F1. Lot's of side events going on.
