Don't know if any of you are aware but Speedplay are now making aluminum base plates for the zero cleats. I had heard some stories about the bolts pulling through the regular plastic base plates and someone on the FixedGearFever forum mentioned these, so I thought why not. They are really not any heavier than the plastic and the 4mm bolts thread directly into the alu plate, not to nuts wedged behind under the snap shims.

The best part is that the plate has two sets of mounting holes for the 4mm cleat bolts, about a cm apart, offering additional fore/aft adjustment for those who maybe can't get the cleats far back or far forward enough on the shoes they are using. Terrific stuff!

I am a recent convert to Zeros and I must say I am really impressed by the ingenuity of the product, with so many options for things like shimming and their customer service is simply outstanding.

So where did you purchase the new base plates from?
