Home made helmet pads?

I seem to go through the helmets pads on my Giro and Bell helmets at a rather alarming rate, and its often hard to find original replacements (and they're often rather pricey). Some people offer aftermarket pads cut to measure on Amazon. Does anyone know where one might find sheets of the padding material that could be cut to measure?

Find an old mouse pad and cut it into shapes. Nobody is using those anymore :)
