BUT even tho it looks to be a great grand tour on paper, maybe the best..not much interest here and elsewhere, it seems..wonder why?

because its after the Tour and in Aug/Sept.

This vuelta has been effing GREAT. The Vuelta is almost always great.
I would almost always rather watch the Vuelta or the Giro over the tour.

The Vuelta makes the case why sprinter-specialization completely sucks and has made the sport boring.

The "Rio" effect.

The 25% sections have been pretty entertaining to watch.

I think there was a section last week that was a few MILES at like 16% average gradient.

loved Monday's stage. I do like Quintana, still consider him the underdog. And I am warming to Froome. I think in part i just don't like to look at him on a bike, and Skye doesn't help. But watching him climb back into the race by himself on Mondays final climb was amazing. The man does know how to spend time, even thrive, down in the hurt locker.

I hope that Universal HD carries the Giro next year. I love watching this on a big screen in HD. I'm watching more for the scenery than the race. Spain is on my radar as far as places to visit, and this is one long travelogue, using helicopters. Man, there was some pretty stuff on Sunday and Monday. Places I'll probably never see otherwise. I'd love too see Italy like that.

I agree about Froome, this year he is not as robotic and seems to be more instinctive in his attacks and counters while having more fun.

I'm watching. But ever since the huge debacle where I didn't actually post a spoiler and got reamed for it (I posted a thread along the lines of Kittel went Hulk or something because he threw his bike and people didn't bother to actually read the post and just assumed that the title meant he won a stage), I just don't bother anymore and leave it to someone else to open a thread on the stage or race.

The Vuelta is my favorite grand tour, so I'm always watching!

I watch the results, but it is a third rate grand tour with lower level rosters. You have more top riders now (otherwise it is like watching minor league baseball), but this is not the race they were peaking for. It is interesting watching the numerous tough climbs but only a hand full of riders get any glory in this race. Not much fun for sprinters and breakaway specialists. Plus they don't even get any glory for supporting the winner like they do in the Tour.

'Third rate' I guess because it probably ranks behind the TdF and Giro but it's not a 'third rate race'...the last and third crown in the Grand Tour crown. I think likening it to minor league baseball is way off. More like a small market pro team going toe to toe with the Yankees, Chicago or LA...IMHO of course.

I believe the Kansas City Royals are the defending champions :)

This Vuelta has been extremely fun to watch, with an exciting finale in virtually every stage, and the break-aways have been far more exciting and unpredictable than in the past.

If you like watching a flat stage, and then 5-10km of organizing for a sprint, yeah, this tour has been a real let down.
