This came up in the classifieds, and I have both, so here a couple of garbage phone pics that show the difference between what I believe are the first generation of Athena single-pivot calipers on the left, brake pads with rounded ends and bare metal tire guides and just Campagnolo etched on the arm, and the last-generation (1995) Athena Monoplaners on the right using what certainly appears to be the second-generation Chorus calipers, last stop before dual-pivots, Campagnolo and Athena etched on the arms, plastic brake pad holders.

Iirc, the Athena sidepulls I had back in the late 80s had the more rectangular brake pads, so there may have been an early (square) and late (rounded) version of the Athena non-Monoplaner calipers or simply the pads changed.

Both sets have pretty decent tire clearance and neither look like anything else from the mid-80s to mid-90s. I use similar on my rain bike and get fenders under way better than with the dual-pivots.
