View Full Version : My Cateye Mity 8 finally died...
....riding in a deluge last night.
After ~20 years of abuse, crashes, countless rainstorms, bitter cold days, hundreds of hours spent in a hot car, etc.
You have to be kidding me.
I am not happy.
(extremely tongue in cheek rant over).
Cheers, BobC

Bob pal, I can send you another one if that helps soothe your pain. Just be ready to be stucked with it for the another 20 years. :D
I still have one that I use. Just about perfection, but the Cateye Velo 7 is similar with a larger display. Good for my old eyes.
I couldn't agree more. I bought a bunch of the 8's when they were on sale and have them on various bikes. Bulletproof and go for practically ever. And that little cord running down the fork doesn't bother me for a minute. In fact, in my retro mindset, that's kind of how a bike should look.

Have you tried the various techniques devised to recover waterlogged cell phones? Can't hurt, and worst case you can still eat the rice.

With my eyes, I switched to the Padrone. I have bifocal contacts. The left eye is "Far" vision and I can read the thing with my far vision eye.

I had Mity 8s on all my bikes until less than 2 years ago. Then I got a Garmin 510 and basically like it, but I miss some things about the Mity 8, especially the readable screen and the quick and reliable auto start/stop function.
My Hampsten single speed still sports the Mity 8.
Probably my favorite ever bike computer though the Garmin 510 is not without some merit for portability between bikes.
This picture is 2 years old but the view remains the same.
