I have a Powertap Pro+ and ever since I changed the batteries, it's reading ~40% low. Here is a screen cap to show what's happening. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/lMynt9eHPNXTluhwR2ZrUC64YUwhZb-HrKHE3D1TADkarkRlNaQLwAnrNsrMYHTnFWr-I7jqXDY-jFDxPxZ9KLjueZAvftPNpPw0C3HqOoQ7m8RrVQ-cTtdzllTTAbOdGKux9l0KUJC3wu47bmzYvXeKyEcd7hUv9JODc Nhd740XTi5RfjjENvYZ2KeSmi95tndBUOf9gu_k0ttpbd1dox7 BIFoAXzyQByQ1GKh25DFScUI8VuxnuU3R2wcPkTXmlRETIdCPV bN4vYUeJVM5aJziT6mfPf_mjvXcot0Cmgsgq1DET3W2LkhDhYm XRUyorVAnHWfuaNFgWW4GJOFBm1s3mxUI0yhksp2Ntmg29mF6E CdKl5aKO1bC72vnhvvQxDdJC63OnT7opSGFK_ADlwvR2Xqi8QN ba2kDXrSJ0PdVtpiB-UF2VoyJdWmoZAh-HteY4RZcOzcBuNSrr2VmBkSeEmJCxqbUDHgFmknemZbuFoWaDR NwOF53k4hze7tTer52qCMYFijBnDhaZ8MzlgdCw5Y6q3QjuAlP ryn8o55Z9ImCQXGnLDCsc-zHH7WHpaXenOFVG4yFgElYPYe3_dXtIqStvg=w467-h266-no

You can see that today's effort was WAY low. Anyone have a suggestion? I've consulted the Google and really can't find a satisfactory answer.

Have you re-done the calibration?

Check for software update?

I'm using a Garmin edge 500 so all I can really do is read torque. When I "calibrate" it won't read...I've waited several minutes.

I don't believe the Pro+ can be updated.

Can you put the old battery back?

:p

Maybe try installing the battery upside down to fully discharge any electrical charge remaining in the PT, then reinstalling the battery the correct way.

You should be able to calibrate the PT with your edge 520. I know you can with the edge 1000. On the Edge 1000, the pull-down screen has a button to start the calibration procedure.

Did you update the firmware on the PowerTap? Try leaving the battery out for 10 min or more to fully discharge the electronics. I do not recommend inserting the battery in backwards. I had the same calibration issue after a firmware update on my G3 with the Garmin 500 not being able to calibrate, but then I switched to 820 and it is now working fine.

It's a Pro+ so the firmware is set.

If you can't set the zero offset then something is wrong. Have you updated the Garmin 500 firmware recently? Did you replace bearings or touch the torque tube? Pull the axle? If so you may have put the torque tube in backwards.

I'd be very careful with that! I blew out a PT endcap by putting the battery in backwards...

I rebuilt the hub (bearings) a while back but was getting good readings up until I changed the battery.

Are you using the specific silver oxide batteries or some zinc air equivalent? Silver oxide is very important.

Hmmmm. Got them at the CVS..
Data I can use.

Well, they're silver oxide. Took them out and will check it again in a bit.

are you paired up with other ant+ devices (cadence/speed, HRM) that you're not currently connecting to?

In my experience, my Edge 500 fails to let you "calibrate" or zero a power meter if it's searching for other ANT+ devices.
