The article in today's Velonews about the Aussie women crashing during team pursuit training in Rio (and gouging the track surface) got me thinking about this video, which was released in the lead-up to the London games, and discussed at length in the forum:

On a related note, I have translated/interpreted for the ITA national track team when they have competed at the VELO Sports Center in Los Angeles, and was fortunate to do so at the 2005 World Track Championships (Vera Carrara, Points Gold!). Since that was the first major event held there, the organizers gave all of us volunteers an engraved foot-long piece of the same Siberian pine that the track is made of. I still have that little piece of wood, and always will.
