View Full Version : What seatpost in 2016 with Chorus 11?

What seatpost do the cool kids use if they're building up a frameset with new Campag Chorus 11 stuff with some handbuilt wheels, a nice, classic build with the newest components? I need to make a recommendation to a friend, and I'm at a loss. I have a few classic-ish Campag posts I could give to this person, but somehow a ti or steel Chorus post just doesn't seem right--plus the whole bike is going to be black, so not-black would look weird. 10-12 years ago this was much easier; the last time we did this it was just the current Campag post. Now the available seatpost selection is pretty not good, with so much of what's out there ugly as sin. So what am I missing?

Something by Nitto or Thomson.

I also really like the Velo Orange posts, also available in black.

Personally, I like FSA - perhaps the K-Force in black?

I would love to have a spare ti campy post for my upcoming new build (probably Chorus as well), silver be damned ;)

Something that matches the stem/handlebar, natch.

I agree.

Especially if it's brand new, with blue head and matching collar, and it's in the PL classifieds right now. ;) :D
(Also have a NIB Fizik for sale.)

I know its not popular but for black carbon I really like my enve. Would not pay full price for it though. I like ritchey stuff and usually have a ritchey cockpit so would match with seatpost.

For TI I really like the Eriksen Sweetpost

I agree. Stem, bars and seatpost from the same manufacturer. The only other choice would be a seatpost that matches the components. Since Campy doesn't list a carbon seatpost, match the stem.

I've got an alloy Fizik post on my Chorus-equipped bike.
Smart design that works well with carbon railed saddles and it simply looks cool.

I didn't think of.

The post has gotta be black, so that crosses off the Campag metal posts and things like Nitto and whatnot, and the stem is a custom with the frame so it can't really be matched.

I considered Ritchey, but the new Ritchey stuff isn't as spiffy as the previous versions. (I use a Ritchey Pro post from 2005 or so and think it is decent.) Thompson posts look so wrong on road bikes, but the post is fine, so that might be the default if all else fails.

A mashup of a Nitto one-bolt post and the last generation of Campag posts, alloy, in black, that would be great. Not gonna be, tho.

Will definitely check out the Fizik. Thanks to all.

If you're willing to look around a little, you might be able to find a black Sim Works Beatnik (http://sim-works.com/en/media/sim-works-beatnik-post) post.

That's a solid option, what I went with for my MX Leader.

There's also a black Nitto Crystal Fellow (https://www.retro-gression.com/products/nitto-s-65-crystal-fellow-seatpost?variant=1226705805).

So many good options, and it all depends on ergonomic preferences and feel... also weight to a certain extent.

I've settled on Enve. Not the lightest, and not the cheapest.. but I found there stuff to be super reliable. And a good strength to weight ratio too! (I'm not a small guy, by any standards)

Didn't I hear that those things were pretty brittle? How many of them can there be out there in use? I dig that they didn't just copy something older, and the post looks kinda cool in an odd way, but I'm not sure I would trust it.

Of course, I'm not gonna be riding it...

Another vote for Fizik. They look good, appear to be very well made and the adjustment is easy.

Yup. I have Chorus 11 on my bike and a Fizik aluminum post. Nice set and forget piece of equipment.
