"I definitely haven’t given up on pro cycling and I will be back one day. I’d like to come back and build the best team in pro cycling again and try to win the Tour de France. One factor why I’m leaving the sport now is that there’s nobody out to beat Froome at the Tour, so why would I fight just for second place."

Maybe not a single individual but a team could ...BUT the the team will need to be better thought out than Sky.

Oh well, hasta la vista

No such thing as 'last words' for Oleg..not much of a vote of confidence to Contador, but slamming his riders is nothing new. PLUS, yes, Froomie is dominant but maybe he oight to note how many team mates Froome had at end of each big climb..now count how many Tinkoff had..team sport.

You know the old saying, " When the going gets tough, the tough come back in a couple years".

What Tinkoff fails to realize is that the Tour will most probably have a new dominant figure by the time Froome fades.

The reality is Tinkov's business and cashflow is under pressure from Russia. I really think it is a has to leave not a want to leave.

Saving face.

BUT you must be able to TT as well. that's where Froome really gets 'em and there's just nobody at that level right now.

Allow me… Sobachka: Misha’s and Grisha’s boardwalk dogs – dog walking service in Brighton Beach is hiring dog walkers. I’m horrible sorry.

I for one am greatful for the attention he has brought to cycling in Russia. Here is the best pic of Oleg ever…

He should get a vial of Lance's blood, take it back to Russia, and have some mad scientist make a teamful of clones. They would be worthy of a Bond movie.

Na, I think he should start a few cycling camps in Russia. Get the kids excited and have some decent bikes for them to train on. Invest in a generation of clean(er) talent and take over the world mwahahahaha.

"Oleg Tinkov's last words" I read the title of this tread and thought he was a victim of an accident. I was expecting to read something along lines of Oleg Tinkov was a victim of a hit and run while riding his bike. Witnesses stated a car came alongside with two individuals who seemed to have words with Oleg then gave him the finger before forcing him off the road into a drainage ditch. Witnesses stated the driver looked to have slavic features with long hair and the passenger was slighter with a darker complexion, maybe of Spanish origin. Police were able to generate sketches based on witness descriptions.

I cannot wait to hear what he has to say when the inevitable Sky doping scandal breaks.

Oh we can predict what he's going to say there.

But going bonkers because Sky -- who he desperately aspired to be -- doped? That'll be delicious, delicious Tinkoff rage.

Does that photo of Oleg remind anyone of a (now deceased) Mapei/Cofidis/Fasa Portolo rider?
