I'm currently building a Rick Hunter 26" 3speed BMX bike for my wife to commute to her van pool stop with. The frame is built for U-brakes, and on my old Ibis trials bikes the u brakes have always used straddle cables front and rear. On this bike the front brake is currently setup sidepull, and the Odyssey Evo2's I purchased to install come with hardware to convert to sidepull for front usage as well.

Is there a reason to stick with the sidepull setup in the front if not routing the cable through the steerer for tricks? The front BMX stem has a spacer underneath which I can replace with a funky monkey for straddle cable use. My intuition makes me believe this would allow for more mechanical advantage.
