Another reputable Chicago area bike store shut down.
Went to their store in Highland Park IL yesterday but found a sign that they closed shop on 7/16 after over 40 years.

Bill Moss decided to pull the plug right after July 4th. Notified most people via a mass email. I've heard some rumors but it's not my place to repeat any of it.

I started working there around 1999. Brendan was, hands down, the best person I've ever worked for. He referred to us as his family and I took it to heart. Between him and the folk that rode with their team I learned a massive amount about bikes and how to be an adult. I can say w/out hesitation that there's not a week that goes by where I don't access something from the years I worked there.

For me, Alberto's isn't a store. It's a 17 year friendship and I can't wait to get back to the NoCoast for a ride with those folk.

If Brendan drank, I'd spill some beer for him -- more appropriate to drink a pepsi and eat a bagel in his honor.

I thought this was about Contador when I read the title...
