Happy and safe July 4th to you, your family, and friends. May we each reflect some on how genuinely fortunate we are to have the opportunities that are available to us.

Switchin' the saddlebag over to ol' pink and parade around the neighborhood for a short while.

ditto and remember that the roads will be full of people today many of which have been celebratingUnfortunately prophetic in retrospect (oops, that's an oxymoron):

They haven't released the name of the rider yet, but I fear that many of us locals will know him. We ride that stretch of road all the time, and it has a VERY wide shoulder (8-10ft or so)

Yesterday we had our annual 4th partay and bike ride to see the National Fireworks. The evening was especially "interesting" as a very strong storm passed thru the area 4 hrs. prior to us on bikes. Riding to DC along the C&O canal became an exercise in scrambling and teamwork. Down trees everywhere and bikes to thread thru branches. Kind a fun. The fireworks were special this yr. with special emphasis on elaborate colors and sent a messge with an almost excessive amt. of loud explosions that took your breath away. Colors remind me of our brilliance as a generation and explosions of our worst interactions with other cultures.

Ride home was nuts. We took the canal most of the way home...mud and crud in pitch dark. Pal Tommy was riding a fixed gear and Queen in hot pursuit of his wheel...man oh man after 8 miles of that we were covered in mud head to toe :) FUN.

Happy 4th y'all.
