One more musical artist gone.. seems like they are going like flies lately...

Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Merle Haggard, Glen Frey, and now Alan Vega...

Just saw Martin Rev last year, but never got to see Suicide. That's a real bummer for me, as their 1977 self titled debut release is easily one of my most played records of ever.

Based on some of the music appreciation threads here, figured I'm not the only fan.

Truly a giant. His was the band I always read about but never heard. When I did, it was like a long missing piece, fitting perfectly into place. I go through different phases, but Suicide have been in the rotation constantly for over ten years.

Luke Haines described the sound as "art attack Gene Vincent from space crooning dystopia over a $5 Wal Mart keyboard." I always thought it was "Despairing Elvis fronting meth-fueled Kraftwerk." It was simple, primal, totally original, and way ahead of its time.

The good news is that the frontman of a band called 'Suicide', lived to the age of 78 and died of natural causes.

"He's a blazin' away . . ."
