I posted a note about my first ride on my new Ottrott today, but forgot to ask for a recommendation for a nice bag to hang under the saddle. Everything on the bike is first rate and I want that for the bag. I carry a spare, a CO2 unit, a metric Allen wrench tool, a shop rag, and some cash.

I like this one a lot. It's the Gilles Berthoud saddlebag, comes in black or gray, with strap and buckle or elastic and hook closure. $95 from Peter White or Wallingford.

I like this bag because it is small and handles perfectly my essentials. I've actually modified its design over time. Hey, my bag's better than 5 yrs old. The velcro straps lost their hookosity so I sewed on a plastic buckle style strap. Also, this bag doesn't have a binkie light clip strap so I added one. Now it is perfect.

Tight, small, it hugs the bottom of the saddle as if it had jumped into a cold lake. If..... you take my meaning.

Inside the saddlebag, one inner tube, one tire lever, tool pouch, and CO2 nozzle. I carry the cartridges taped together, facing opposite directions, in my back pocket. I leave them in my shoe so I never forget packing them.

you probably don't need it, but I vote for the thoughtful design and quality.

I like this one. I'm using, I think, the medium (well, it's the middle one they call "small"), and it is pretty sleek for the amount of room. I can fit a patch kit, CO2 dispenser and tube, multi-tool, tire levers, and tube along with my keys, license, and insurance card.

This is my favorite bag, and I've tried a fair number. It's too big for just a tube and some CO2, but if you ever want to carry a light jacket, cell phone and a couple power bars, its perfect.

Nothin' but Jandds on my bikes. Great quality, several sizes, and several colors.

I use the mini mountain wedge for everyday riding but have a larger bag if I'm going to be out for several days.

If I were to stray from Jandd, I'd be tempted to get the Arkel, everything they make is nice.
