Handlebar bag?

I've been using this Arkel map bag quite successfully, but it will soon need replacing;

...and so i need something that attaches to the tops with direct straps (no screwed on brackets), that is not too bulky (just enough for spare tubes, tools, phone, house key, et.c.), and not a 'box' shaped bag.

I recently got one from Fog City. Big enough to empty a couple of overfilled jersey pockets, and didn't noticeably affect bike handling. Two straps to attach to the handlebars and a stretch line that goes around the head tube or whatever it's called. It was perfect for riding in mountains with big changes in the weather.

Someone was selling one on here a few days ago. I give that a full endorsement, despite the high price. I have been using one on any ride where I carry more than just phone, keys, ID, for over a year now. It can hold food, spare parts and tools, a gilet or jacket, warmers, etc, and does not move with a 3 point attachment. Amazing design and MUSA to boot!

I love my Revelate Designs mountain feed bags. I use them on the mtb and the gravel bike with dropbars. I'll use one or two depending on how much stuff I want to carry.

I highly recommend Roadrunner bags -- great products, very fair prices and made in the USA. I've bought several things from them and don't see myself ordering any kind of bike bag/pack from anyone else unless there's some specific application I need they don't offer.

Acorn's medium handlebar bag is my favorite handlebar bag. Sadly, they dont make it anymore. Their quality is excellent.

I own a cylinder style bag like many posted but by Swift (swift burrito). The drawback to this design is that it zippers and is accesible only when stopped. It's tought to undo the zip while riding and not have it impact handling.

I borrowed this from a buddy and it is a vasty superior design from a functionality pov, imho. You can open while riding. leaves more hand space on the bar top, has a map case and is easy to access - just flip up the velcro. Also the way the bag closes, water stays out.

REALLY impressed. For 200km or less this would hold a gilet and snacks easy.

Right now, I have an Acorn medium saddle bag mounted on my bars. Works nicely for my lunch which I used to cram into my Carradice Barley with my work clothes. The narrowness of the saddlebag leaves more room for my hands on the tops. The army surplus store is a good place to get an ammo bag that can loop over the tops of your bars.
