I know there are many members here that are from CO. I wanted to share this with you. Bill was a Friend, Teammate and passionate about riding. He leaves behind a wife and three young boys under the age of 10. This a sad situation for a young man of only 35 years of age that lost his life and now leaves behind a family that will miss him forever. This was a hit and run accident with the driver suspected of being under the influence. Be safe out there and keep Bill's family in your prayers.

Sorry for the loss, terrible.

Apparently the killer was on probation at the time for a prior impaired offense.

Wow what a tragedy.

Looks like the woman that killed him is only 24 and this will be her second offense assuming she was impaired.

This is horrible. My condolences to the family.

The number of incidences like this have almost scared me off the road. There seems to have been a crazy amount this spring. I've almost decided to just do my trainerroad workouts and then only ride in groups (I know that isn't entirely safe either) and race. The idea of orphaning my kids is scarier and scarier these days.

That's horrible. I feel for his wife and children. Just out for a ride, and to never come back.

Just today on my ride, I smell strong odor of pot. 3 People come hiking off this trail to their car (New Mexico plates). They take one last drag on their joint and hop in the car and drive away.

Too many people are selfish about their intoxicants, to the detriment of the rest of us.

Done, I think I knew him, a terrible waste and loss..My condolences to his wife and children. Their lives have changed for the worse, forever.

I can only hope the charges involve a type of 'homicide'..

So sad. Since the Kalamazoo tragedy, I've started noting all motorist-involved deaths I learn of in a thread on The Chainlink (http://www.thechainlink.org/forum/topics/another-cyclist-fatality), a Chicago-area bike forum. I don't know if it will lead to anything other than a (likely incomplete) tally. I figured I'd at least start with this.

Agreed on both accounts. Sad sad news. Thoughts and prayers to his wife and young kids. Nobody should grow up without a mom and dad.

On the other front, I've probably spent as much time this year riding side streets and sidewalks. Places where I have a bit more peace of mind. Too crazy out there.

Again thoughts and prayers.

I am very devastated by the passing of Bill along with our team and the rest of the cycling community here in Boulder. I grieve for his Wife Brianne and her three young sons. Bill was that guy everyone strived to be. A father and dedicated husband who put his family first, a rising star in Google, and a talented racer who went from cat 4 to cat 2 in two year.

There are so many stories I can share to demonstrate his character. One story does stand out. In March while on a group ride down Flagstaff Mountain, Phil Zajicek (former Pro) was lead a group down the Mountain and collided with a truck in which his arm was ripped off. As the Group arrived, seeing his arm in the middle of the road and him on the side of the road, everyone was in shock not knowing what to do. Not Bill, he jumped right in and found the artery that was causing Phil to bleed out. He squeezed with all his might while instructing other what to do. Bill Saved Phli's life. Once again Bill proved what kind of hero he was.

here is the thread about it.
