Happened across this crazy DeSalvo painted by Landshark on TheRadavist.

It's so disturbing but I love it.

I don't get too overly jazzed about paint schemes but that is art. I would be afraid to ride it.

I love it.

No better than Dario's work, just different, IMO.

Agree 100%.

There is nothing about John's paint jobs that make you feel like a Kindergartener could do it.

If Banksy had really done that, then we'd be talking.

I can't stand the "Modern" art on the Pegs either but I dig this.

wow. agree--like this better than a lot of the pegs (not all), especially the ones that try to go crazy. might as well go full on at a certain point and this is a great example

I really like this one, but there was a Landshark for sale locally last year with paint that I didn't like at all. I would still have purchased it given enough time, but if it had had this paint I would have dropped everything to make the drive and buy it. I feel the same way about Pegs, some I like some I don't.

What is the cost for a "meh, way overdone, and very cartoonish/literal" ticket?

I think the Pegoretti schemes are far more creative, subtle, and more beautiful.
The actual paint quality does look excellent, though, from the images.

The stem looks pretty nice, in any case. :)

That DeSalvo is stylin'.

I think both John and Dario have excellent artistic sense. Both definitely work outside the box.

True work of art and no worries about your visibility on the road. I'd be worried about drivers being mesmerized by it and drifting toward you to get a better look!:D

"crazy" is one way to describe it. :p

freedom of choice, expression, and all that. someone likes it, obviously. someone probably had fun painting it. and more power to 'em all.

Crazy Landshark paint job" is redundant.

As for this one and most LS paint (and most Peg paint, for that matter), it's fun and interesting, but I would not want it on my bike because it just isn't to my taste. And differences in taste in such things helps make life interesting.

Love it. John does some amazing work.

Have a tandem being built by him that is in paint now. Can't wait to see it.

He has two logos: this one and a more elegant script (http://www.desalvocycles.com/about-desalvo-custom-cycles/).

Did you specify a design or leave it up to him? I have a friend that left it up to him, came with a greenish sea scape along with little gold sharks. Wierd but really nice.

I dig it. There's definitely some artistic thought and 60s Pop art going on there. There's some visual reference to Bansky, Keith Haring, Robert Rauschenberg, Roy Lichtenstein in the pics. On his website he talks about his fine art training.

I saw a bike out riding I knew was a Landshark, knew it from 50 feet away. It was covered in photos of roses, purple ones. Extremely well done, looked nothing like the bike here. Owner told me that John Slawta was very cool to work with and worked really closely with the client on this. She raved about the bike too.

The best bike shop that ever was here in Seattle sold two two top end bike lines, Pegoretti and Landshark. First time I'd ever seen actual thoughtful painting on a bike.

Dario used to do stuff like this, but it seems like it's strictly paint or paint pen now, no more decals. Does anyone know if he's doing decals?

A little bit of both. I have to make sure my stoker (wife) would be ok with the paint, and is a little more conservative but picky. Hiwever, she doesn't have any good ideas on what paint she wants. So, I showed her some pics, and showed her my bikes.

Surprisingly, she gravitated towards Dario's ciavete paint jobs. So, that is what I told John. "Something fun, with preference to ciavete type designs. Nothing too crazy or weird". Not sure how it will turn out, but I'm sure I'll love. Just hope the wife does.
