Thoughts?
Masters or Corsas.
This bike is loud, how do you all think they would look?

I would do it. I would do corsa just because I hear great things but haven't tried them.

Compass 28's with the skin showing please.

Oh, sorry, you were asking about specific tires. Get the skins.

Yeah, I am running Rubino Speed G+ right now. They are really nice.

Maybe, I dont think 28's will fit. They have 26's though.

I don't like all-black tires on my bikes, but they don't look out of place on that one.

I don't think that's the type of bike or wheels for skin-wall tires.

I'd keep the all-black - they look good.

that bike needs tan tires for sureeee

I'd leave them black. Already borderline too many different colors with the headset and seat collar (but they're subtle).

I put some on my CSI and it makes it look better for sure.

CSi is lugged steel. Way different look than this IF.

I say keep 'em all black. I hate colors tires and I don't like gum walls.

But I bet you just love SpeedBlend tires!

I would much rather see some colored hubs.....purple or bronze?. Just a little accent color cuz nothing should take away from that gorgeous paint!

OT but how do you find the durability on those? thinking of them for my next set.

They have been great so far. They ride very nice with latex tubes and all. They are good tires. If I stick with black, I will stick with these. Well, unless they release a all black Corsa which I hear is on the way.

Probably look great, but I don't really care. Just please keep posting photos of that bike and please send me a pm when you tire of it.
L o v e the paint on that one. Congratulations.

I never ran it with tan sidewalls, only with black tires. Maybe one of the other former owners of that fine frame can chime in?

I used purple Cinelli 'Milano' bar end caps, which went nicely. And a different black saddle, but otherwise it looks similar to my build.

Gumwalls look good on pretty much everything.

However, this frame, where the multicolor finish is the thing, maybe not so much. IMO.

That bike doesn't really have a classic look to it. I'd do colored corsas (can you still get those?) or black methinks

True. However I still like tan walls on bikes period. So I am biased :p

I'm quite the fan of tan wall tires. I think they'd look great on your bike! I've heard good things about the Corsa tires.

I have a pair of Grand Bois Extra Light 26s in skin wall with which I'll include latex tubes if you're interested. Less than 100 miles.

After thinking about it, it doesn't matter, any tire will work with that cool ass paint. Tan, white, green pave's, you name it.

Black with a black tread down the center, around both sides, and on the insides, are even nicer. ;)

I think some more traditional wheels would look better with tan sidewalls, but with those wheels, I vote black sidewalls.

Well,
I kept the black tires and picked up some Compass tires as well. Thoughts?

R3awak3n
06-23-2016, 07:23 PM
I think I was wrong, black > tan. I don't think its the tires though, its the wheels that don't work with the tan tires imo.

But I bet those ride better than the black ones you had in there.

I hate to say something bad about a fellow forumite's bike, but IMO my initial feeling was right:

I don't like the look of the tan sides. (but of course it's your bike)

Cicli
06-23-2016, 07:28 PM
Yeah, I am looking for honest opinions. I am not sold on the look. I bought them here and they are basicly new. Someone may want them. I think its a bit much.

More opinions please.

thirdgenbird

I am about as big of a tan tire supporter as they come, and I don't like it as much as I expected. Can I vote impartial?

Louis
06-23-2016, 07:50 PM
In addition to the "styie" mismatch issues I mentioned at the start of the thread (frame and wheels too modern to go with old-style tires) I think the sidewalls are too close to matching the frame color.

That sometimes works (eg a blacked-out look) but more often than not, if they're similar it's just too much.
