Does anyone make a +/- 11° stem? I looked on Google and eBay and can't find any.

If +/- 11° are not made, what is the next best option, in terms of availability: +/- 10° or +/- 12°?

thomson 31.8 x length, 10d. generally $45-55 second hand here.

My question would be: Why?

The only reason I could think of off the bat was that a longer stem would have a greater effect on drop/rise than a shorter stem. So if you're going for a 130 or 140 and not an 80 or a 90. Get a +/- 10 and use mebbe a 5mm shim under the steerer clamp instead of a 10mm.

Chart below says it better than I.

Thanks again.

For a pretty dumb reason, actually.
I'm thinking (but very on the fence) of ordering a ti stem from Jim for my Kish.
The tt on my frame is -6°; the ht is 73°. Since Jim will make any rise, +/-11° would align the stem with the tt.
A cheap +/- 11° would allow me to test before committing the money I don't have to a ti stem.

This is likely not going to happen, but it's why I became curious about 11° stems.

Ah. Gotcha. And ya don't wanna spend money like that only to find that it doesn't really 'work' for ya. But that matching thing kinda did cross my mind. With all the various slopers (and even curved TTs) these days, getting an exact match is kinda tough. And prolly why there are wider gaps on stem angles.

Fer me, I just went with the angle and length that has always worked for me in the past,,, based on the Effective TT length. Alas, it doesn't match, cuz the stem is +/- 17 and 120 mm. But it puts the bars in the right place without a lot of fuss. And since the saddle is level (and the stem), the visual works OK.

I'm currently riding the first sloper I've ever owned, a Serotta Fondo TI. I felt it was more important to get

this. we are essentially talking about sin(11 deg) vs sin(10 deg) and how that gets amplified

the human eye can maybe detect 2-3 deg off an axis, but not much more. for a 120mm stem, the actual difference in rise is only 2mm. quite miniscule

Specialized makes a stem that will get you on either side of 11:

I resemble that remark when it comes to saddle position

ITM AluTech stems are 10 degrees.

Pro PLT or Pro Vide are great stems. Both come in +/-10.

FWIW, I've had quite a few of these stems, and the rise and length of them has all been very slightly different, even though they were all stated to be the same. I guess that's part of the (manufacturing) forging process. You could buy a few different ones and see which one is closest

A completely level stem on a level toptube sometimes looks like a negative angle imo. +1 degree or so may not be such a bad thing.

What length do you need? I have a 90mm 10 degree Thomson in the bin.

Thomson has the added bonus of short 36mm stack height (unlike the regular 40mm). So a Thomson -10d 36mm stack would put the hbars in exactly the same spot as an -11d 40mm stack stem for normal lengths (like 100-120mm).

If I could find one really cheap +/- 10 would be close enough.

PRO PLT available in 10deg, black or silver.

Easton EA90 also available in 10deg, black only.

Aesthetics...:crap:

aesthetics matter. I applaud you candor and your journey to an aesthetic truth.

a famous italian, aldo gucci, once said "quality is remembered long after price is forgotten".

in the words of my 16yo daughter - YOLO!

but, try a Thomson first before you indulge.
