The disc removes with a freewheel removal tool and I have a park FR-5.

However, in order to use my tool I have to take off the wheel cone lock nut as my tool is not deep enough.

Do they make deeper tool now for discs?

The FR-5 is recommended, which is odd that it doesn't work for you. Which hub do you have?

What does the disc. rotor have to do with the cassette?

I heard there is an updated fr-5 that has splines deep enough to fit. Check to see which you have.

Centerlock, not 6-bolt.

This. I had an older fr-5 and a newer one that I got when I couldn't find the old one. The newer one fits, the old one is too shallow.

Its a lower end Deore hub. It works but I have to take out the axle to use it as it bottoms out before reaching the splines.

My hub came loose on the disc side which is why I am messing with it.

I took off the hub lock nut, removed the disc with the FR-5 but I will have to tighten the disc side hub, loosen the cassette side hub pull the axle (loose bearings), replace disc, replace axle and retighten the cassette side.

That seems like a lot of work to tighten 1 locknut.

That is what I was wondering.

Oh right! I've always been a 6-bolt guy...There must be a fr-5.5 coming soon!

Yeah I would think they would name it that or similar so dummies like me are not posting on forums :o

The Abbey tool works for this.
Get one. They are awesome.

What is the Abby tool? I actually stopped at the bike store and got the new FR-5 and I am all set.

The Abbey tool is basically a hollow Fr-5 on a stick... the ones I have seen also have a campy splined tool on the back of the head as well. It's a nicely made tool, despite my tool on a stick description.
