I just realized (apparently somewhat late) that one of my favorite tires-the 700x27 Pave- has been discontinued. Question is, is there an obvious successor for it? I looked at the Vittoria website but am not impressed....I don't even see tpi specs listed.

Yeah, it's been basically replaced by the new Open Corsa G+ in 28c.

one of the corsa graphene tires will be just fine for you. i mean if you are a pretty pretty princess and need 27mm wide then you're going to have 23mm wide rims (for a 25mm tire) but the 28 will be fine on ~19mm wide rims

Ok thanks. Found the tpi for these on Art's- 320, so should be similarly supple....I hope.

As far as the sizing, in general I prefer fat tires and am fine with 28s when they fit. But I do like how the Paves come in undersized...usually around 26.... and thus are the largest tire that can be stuffed into tight frames that otherwise take only 25s.

Both Art's and Competitive Cyclist still have them in stock.

Yes, thanks. I ordered some from Art's this morning and also won a pair on e-Bay. I should be set for awhile. It is just hard to believe that a tire with such notoriety is being completely eliminated rather than improved/upgraded.

Besides the green stripe, the name "pave" and its 27c size...what does a pave have going for it that a g+ corsa doesn't?
As historic as the pave is, and as big of a fan as I am of them...give me a choice and I'm picking the g+ tires every time.

The old Pave has nothing on the new Corsa.

Was gonna say what eB did. I would consider the new corsa g+ stuff a huge upgrade.. and I've got a secret stash of paves laying around..

I feel the same way about Vittoria Rubino Pro Tech in 28mm but found some at Merlincycles, $49 a set shipped.
They have the Pave for $33.81 each (Green). https://www.merlincycles.com/vittoria-open-pave-evo-cg-iii-folding-road-tyre-45126.html
