Forgive me for sounding like an idiot, but I haven't used Cantis for a LOOOONG time. I have disc brakes or road callipers on all my bikes.

I picked up my beater Fisher Procaliber that has Deore cantis that were pretty well set up. I want to install fenders and so the straddle cable needs to be raised. It currently uses those Shimano Y-hangers (wrong name) that create a fixed length and angle and don't allow the centre to clear the fenders.

I need to get a set of those carrier things like the Paul Moon Units (only super cheap). Is there something I should ask for at the LBS? Wide cable carriers? Old school ones?

Also, to SS a bike, I will try the magic gear thing first, but if it doesn't work, I assume that a basic tensioner and SS cog/spacers is all that is required? It is a Deore DX cassette hub, newer than the frame.

Sounds like you need this guy:

Any shop with a QBP account should be able to get them.

Yes, those look about right. I hope they're cheap, 'coz I am!
