I mostly agree with you. It's pretty amazing how much money he's giving away. On the other hand . . . oh forget my cynicism, he's doing good.

private money can sometime do what public money doesn't have the will or courage to do. example: melinda gates said today that one of her goals was to cure aids in her life time. $60 billion talks damn loud.

but yes to what i'm guessing is fly's point: buffet still has a few billion left to "scrape" by on. nevertheless, much good will be done. if only the u.s. congress cared as much about people.

I'd have his love child.

Rocked my world to hear that.

Who cares how much he's going to "scrape by" on, if he's willing to donate 3 billion dollars per year. It is unbelievable. Like climb said, private $ can help move some major mountains.

I understand there are private programs for the less flush. No doper left behind.

Buffet could probably get by on a million dollars a year. Most of his large expenses involve flying in his private jet for business, on of the few luxuries he has. Buffet is the king of LBYM, living below your means. He drives his own Lincoln Town Car (license plate THRIFTY), lives in a house he bought for about $38,000 in Omaha, and loves cherry cokes, burgers, and dairy queen. His plan was always to donate the money after his death, but apparently the Gates'es hastened his timetable. I'm reminded as a BRK-B shareholder why I invest in this company...because WB does the right thing, always. The share price went down a bit today in reaction, but who cares? The selling by foundations will not adversely impact the long term outlook due to timetable.

So, I wonder what Munger is going to do?

Excuse me but news travel slow down here in the forest, atmo. Would you please let me know what is it that Mr. Buffet did? Thank you kindly, atmo.

perhaps the biggest financial mistake I ever made was selling some A BRKs for about three grand per some decades back. Do own Bs from a later buy, but it's not the same; boy, is it not the same.

Incidentally, it's business and bridge tournaments. I understand that each of the players arrives via his own jet.

Jimmy wrote "Cheeseburger in Paradise" and Warren made his money with the chain of restaurants called "Hometown Buffet". They're not related yet they are kindred.
