I have ridden Vittoria Open Pave CG 27mm for a long time but had a string of flats a few months back and ordered some 28mm Gravel Kings. The flat God's abated and I never mounted then until today.

Anyway, I was surprised at how light they are weighing less than the CGs. I will post an update after I get some miles on them. My CGs weren't totally done but had visible wear after 2700 miles. Hoping the Kings are tougher.

I have around 2500 on my 28mm Gravelkings, they're great. They don't have a lot of traction on loose gravel (to be expected) but I haven't had any issues with cuts, etc.

i'm riding the 26c version, and really happy with them.

I have 28s and 32s.

I ride the 28s on my Hollands and the 32s on my Bilenky.

Both are fantastic on crushed gravel and cruddy Twin Cities roads.

Such nice performers at an el cheapo price.

Neither of them are so red hot on deeper, fresh gravel of course.

I would go to the 40s for that or a Rock n Road.

Does the 32 Panaracer GK file tread exist or is that internet legend?

Panaracer makes a great tire, but I don't see where you can fault the Vittoria's for showing visible wear at 2700 miles. Or am I missing something.

The Gravel King's cost half as much, weigh less, and provide a pretty supple ride (based on only my initial 40 mile voyage on them today). The key will be whether they hold up for more miles and fewer flats (TBD).

I love the Open Pave CG's but I'm shocked at the price/performance of the Gravel Kings and I expect them to hold up better than the CGs. As stated I'll report back after I've gotten some miles on them.

I have a little less than 1,000 miles on mine (700x28), and they have been great so far. I run them at 95-100 psi in the rear and 90-95 psi in the front. It looks like they will last a while as well; there is minimal wear to date.

how much do you weigh? that a LOT of pressure for a 28...

Has anyone had an opportunity to directly compare the suppleness/ride quality of a Compass EL 28, and a GK 28?

I have not but I'm willing to take that hit. PM me for my address and upon receipt of the Compass El 28s I'll provide a comprehensive comparison review (extra points if the Compass come mounted on some Zipp 202 Disc wheels to make the A/B comparison really easy).

FWIW I run my recently acquired GK 28s at around 90-100 psi. Not sure if my pump is accurate though because it feels like less to me. I weight around 160-165lbs and they are on a steel travel bike that is nowhere near light.

Very tempted by the 32s, just not sure if they will fit the frame. Almost a worthwhile experiment at that price though.

I'm 145-150 and run my 28s closer to 50-60psi...

this... 60-65 for me.

yes, i ride both Compass EL and Gks in 28s. Compass EL is a bit more cush in the ride quality, its a damn supple tire, but its hard to notice. Like really hard. The GKs to me don't give up much at all. Make a tanwall GK and im in love.

I'm Same weight and tire combo too - run 90-95 psi over poor roads and light gravel, still experimenting. Liking these tires though, perfect on my "country bike". I've been riding Rubino pro IIIs last couple years(25 and 23s), and the 700x28 Gravel Kings don't feel like I'm giving up much in terms of weight or rolling resistance.

225 lbs.

My 175 lbs riding buddy runs his 28s at 75 psi. But then he is 50 lbs lighter...

I tried 90 psi for a bit and didn't care for the feel.

Hmm - maybe I'll try bumping down a couple psi. I'm 160lbs on 700x28s @ 90-95 psi too.

Yeah, no reason to run pressures that high unless you are north of 100 kg like me.

I think you should come to Austin for an intensive weight program. We'll start the day with delectable breakfast taco's, serve you BBQ for lunch, and feed you a big fat steak for dinner. To wash it all down we'll give pour lots of local craft beer and even some bourbon and vodka. Net, don't fret -- Austin is ready to help you get up to weight.

175 pounds and running 28c gravel kings 80 - 85 psi. Very happy with this tire.

I bit on a set at that ebay price. It'll be a dicey fit, but they're going on the Hollands.

Here's to hoping......

+1 for GKs being great tires at a good price. My rear is showing some wear at ~1000 miles, but nothing crazy. One flat on a thorn but overall pretty tough tires and good ride and fairly grippy for that.

they cut kind of easily but i really like them. have the exact same one on my bike with maybe a 1000 miles and the rear already has worn down a good amount, but i have not flatted once. 135 lbs and run anywhere between 60 and 80 psi
