On five spoke crank, there's something inside the hidden chainring bolt. It prevents the Torx bit from going it.
Is this thing really in there to let one know the bolt hasn't been removed?
What's the best way to get it out?

Thanks.

It is called security torx. There is a special bit designed for it. However you can pop out the little stud with a small screwdriver or the like since it is an aluminum bolt.

Little plastic plug, I use a sharpened spoke to pop it out. Somebody at Campag didn't like the idea of taking CRs off for any reason, like to clean them...I think they were concerned somebody wouldn't re-install well, it would back out and gouge a frame's chainstay.
