It seems my favorite recreational drug just got better!

In an article I saw today Viagra was found to increase performance for trained cyclists riding stationary bikes in high altitude environments. Since the drug was originally developed to lower high blood pressure and then found to allow greater blood flow to the penis allowing erectional function to be enhanced, scientists now have discovered that blood flow to the respiratory system is improved in some subjects exercising at high altitude.

Not everyone showed improvement in the tests, only those who perform well at sea level but show a marked decrease at altitude actually were able to achieve an increase to near sea-level ability. Those who did the test with little drop-off at altitude showed no improvement with the Viagra.

No erections by the cyclists were documented during the tests.

Er, letīs see, what is it that I want to say... I live at sea level. I mean, if I walk outside my house for a leak, and if there is a high tide, I'll get wet, from salt water I mean. Having said that, I know of at least three guys, older men in their sixties or early seventies, who have died in bed after or during intercourse after loading up with Viagra. Thankfully, I grew up during the sixties and had my share of fun so now I can relaxedly watch the bulls from the bleachers, so to speak (I'm just making reference to an old Spanish saying). Scarlett notwithstanding, of course.

In other words, I'm very glad to know Viagra only from afar. As it is, I'd rather finish last in a race than anywhere ahead of last with Viagra, atmo.

Doctors are finding out more and more everyday. One precaution--you must be very careful with other supplements while taking viagra. Taking iron pills while on viagra can make you spin and point north like a compass.

Viagra and related drugs work by decreasing pulmonary artery pressures- thus making it easier for the right side of your heart to pump blood through the lungs. This increased blood flow allows you to take up more oxygen and your body to have more oxygen-a good thing at altitude. I have heard of it being used by some high altitude climbers, I also seem to remember hearing of it being used by bike racers but I don't know if this is true.
The side effects of death, visual changes, etc are more common in elderly men with heart disease.
