Hi All:
I just installed a new press fit BB (BB86) on my bike. The bearings were smooth as butter prior to install, but after install the drive side bearing is a little gritty when I rotate it with my finger. With the crank installed I can't feel the grittiness. I used a bearing press to carefully install the bearings, and they went in nicely.
Could the grittiness be due to the shell lightly compressing the cup? Any value in removing the gritty bearing and reinstalling? Might this smooth out if I just ride it?
Thanks in advance for your replies.
P.S.: I don't like press fit BBs, but that's what this frame has so I'm stuck with it.
