Why do there seem to be more 36 hole fronts than rears? I have two new 36 hole fronts on the shelf. I may end up having to use Mirage rears to get any use out of them.

I thought the same thing. Was on the hunt for 36h C-Record hubs and saw all the newer 36h Record front hubs on eBay.
Question: I heard that C-Record freewheel hubs can be converted to 9/10/11s?
If so, this might be my plan B if I ever need 36 with 10 or 11s in the future.
Edit:
Never mind, found where I read this, it was Look585 's FS thread (http://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=186645) and the conversion was from C-Record 8s to 9/10/11.

Here's a pair of NOS (http://www.bikerecyclery.com/new-campagnolo-record-9-10-11-speed-hubset-skewers-black-36h-hb7-re2/)for a reasonable'ish price. I considered these a while ago, but went WI with a 32h front for the same money.
