I need to have a bike boxed and shipped from Boston to Cincinnati. Would love to hear suggestions and experiences with different shops and approaches to getting a bike to a destination. Thanks in advance.

I pack myself and ship via bikeflights.
I bave contacted bike shops and hotels at my destination to recieve the package. If it gets delivered to a bike shop I ask they hold it until I arrive. I always spend money at said bike shops. Jerseys and or water bottles and the such.

Great advice. I do much the same. BikeFlights folks do a great job.

Would appreciate suggestions for Boston shops to do the packing. I'm a bit time crunched, and would prefer dropping off the bike to box.

Are you in Boston proper? Suburbs (if so, north, south, west)?

I used Cambridge Bicycle on Mass Ave near Kendall to pack up a bike for me for shipping via bike flights. I dropped off the shipping label with my bike and scheduled a time for FedEx to pick it up from them. Totally painless. They did a great job packing and bike flights was really easy to use.

Skyrider (on the forum) works at JRA in Medford.

They do professional packing and ship with Bikeflights.

If you're in Porter Square, try Ace Wheelworks between Porter and Davis Squares

Ha! The bike I'm sending is the white CSI I bought from you, Eric. I love the ride. Can't wait to climb and descend the hills in Cincinnati on it.

I'm having Broadway Bicycle School box the bike. Bike flights will pick up from the shop and deliver. Thanks everyone for their input!
