. . . e-richie is not particularly worried about political correctness or expanding his sales south of the Mason-Dixon line?

While my yankee butt was stationed in Columbus Mississippi, circa 1979, I ordered and rode a Richard Sachs. Perhaps I started it all...

Peter,

I understand you ordered it in 1979. By my calculations it should be shipped to you in about 6 weeks. Sachs, great bike, long wait.

My stationed in the South experience came when this Yankee butt was not-briefly-enough passing through Fort Polk, LA. in 1969 (a great place for nuclear testing I might add, the rest of the world would never miss it.) Nobody rode bicycles. Even the coral snakes were too beat up by the heat and humidity to do anything but find a nice, cool rock to hide under. Dave N.

I got my first racing license while stationed in Mississippi. At the time there were if I recall correctly, 27 licensed racers in the ENTIRE state. During the same year my home state of Connecticut, roughly 1/6 to 1/8 the size of Miss., listed over 400 racers. Trust me, cycling wasn't too popular then. Good thing lycra wasn't available; them good ol' boys woulda had a field day with me!
