I'm sending a vintage 10-speed mixte to my sister in San Francisco.
Does anyone have a good recommendation on a friendly shop to send it to, so they can get it back on the road for her? A shop around the financial district would be the most ideal as it's close to her office. But really, open to anything.
Thanks Paceline

Yeah. Huckleberry or citizen chain.
Agree with Citizen Chain, this would be right down their alley, try emailing Dallas. http://www.citizenchain.com/?page_id=17
Excellent location right between Fishermans Wharf and North Beach for the biking touristas.:)

everything in sf is much more expensive than anywhere else. i would fix it up & get it running myself, then box & ship it to one of the above shops for an assembly and final tune.

It'll basically just need the pedals installed and quill stem tightened. It will have a full rehab before I send it off. Thanks for the heads up.

Depends what you're looking for and what kind of bike you ride... I service most of my own bikes, but when I need anything I can't do at home these are usually the one's I go to - MASH (track & CX), Fresh Air (CX), Valencia (for small bits), huckleberry (Esp. for old school steel frames), Freewheel (for all kinds of service).

fresh air or boxdog, freewheel is cool too.

Personally I would take it to Box Dog, very friendly folks and knowledgeable about vintage bikes. Huckleberry and Citizen Chain are probably fine too, but I know for a fact that Box Dog would be a great fit.

I'm a fan of Market Street Cycles (http://www.marketstreetcycles.com/) if only for their 8am open time. Allows me to drop off on the way to work.
I also like Valencia Cyclery (http://www.valenciacyclery.com/parts-and-service), but that's a bit further away.

I install the pedals do a test ride that your sister can take BART to me and pick it up and take BART back after doing a test ride around here to check saddle height etc

American Cyclery or Citizen Chain.
If high end road bikes can consider Bespoke, but the mixte is at home with the two above.

Just spent some time at Box Dog this weekend. Such a laid back and cool group of people who will work on any bike, from Walmart to custom randonneur. Totally recommend!
