Look at this bicycle. it appears to be full titanium. then - look at the last photo posted. it appears to be a composite part with damage?? what does that last picture show, what part of the frame is that?

it is an interesting frame. certainly has some serotta like details, but odd that it's not listed that way. very interesting.

It sure looks like the seat tube above the bottle boss

Downtube. Other than that, hard to say.

Downtube vote for me as well. You can see the damage in the third picture as well.

Get some of that carbon wrap from home depot and you should be good to go.

I think the frame may be just very dirty. It is possible that the "scratches" shown in the last photo are just some sort of dirty accretion on the surface. Look how dirty the white sticker is. This could be just a lazy seller who has a dirty bike to sell--but why not wipe it down??

Seller indicated the manufacturer as Serotta in the description... Perhaps ask for the serial number for confirmation?

The 'damage' looks like the clear coat on the downtube is peeling or rubbed off- maybe the owners knees repeatedly chafed it while riding?

It's some adhesive residue with hair stuck on it from the carpet.

downtube vote for me, cage bolt and star location same in pic #3 and #6.
Looks like the clearcoat is peeling off, I don't notice any dents in the pics

I want to know what is the collar or sleeve on the fork steer tube.

It could be something as innocuous as clear coat rubbing off since it looks like this frame as seen a lot of use based on the tire rub on the driveside CS...or is that the dimple? Lousy pictures from a seller with zero feedback. I'd love to see a shot of the serial number and the rear brake bridge to determine if the frame is indeed a Serotta (other than apparently the fork).

The stays don't have the s-bend but I once had a Concours 'cross that had straight stays.

Downtube... If it was seat tube he'd have to rip the rear triangle off to get it to lay on the carpet like that. Probably like bicycle tricycle said, something sticky with fuzz stuck to it.

Looks too suspect for me without actually examining it in person besides this is the seller first transaction. Hope you are not considering it.

Silly me, yes, based on the placement of the bolt, it had to be the dt.

Painted Ti....inner cable rub on DT from carrying up steps or transporting on trunk carrier...tried to touch it up, but didn't wait long enough for it to dry and picked up carpet "hairs".

Non-issue IMHO.

;)

As you know, be very wary of a seller with no feedback. You have to start somewhere, but I wouldn't be the guy's first buyer.

Ebay buyer protection works... You'd have to get the seller to state that there is no damage, of course.

Bicycle Sport Shop in Austin was a Serotta dealer. The gold borders between the paint and the bare ti, the dropouts, and the quality welds seem to indicate that the frame was built and painted in the Serotta shop; whether it is a "Serotta" or not, i doubt it. It could have been a house branded bike, a "Saratoga" ( I think they made some ti ones), or an off-the-clock bike.
