Hi there, first time poster!

I have a Parlee Z5i and I love it, but am looking to upgrade the wheelset, and this is the only issue with the bike—tight frame. I have mailed Parlee support, but no help, so hope you all can help instead.

I wanted to see if Enve 3.4 would fit without framerub, running Force22 groupset no disc. I'm open on what tires, but have in the past loved 25mm GP4000II, but 23mm would work too of course. I hear they might be too wide for the frame? Any experience with what fits without rubbing, and what tires I can use?

Any guidance is really appreciated.
Thank you
/Kristian

23s fit fine on 3.4s, 25s would be very tight in the rear.

Thanks kramnnim, is it from personal experience or? and the 25 "would be very tight", but would they fit without rubbing?

Thanks again.

Yeah, I had a Z5 and still have the 3.4s. Used 23mm GP4ks. There was a few mm of room on either side. Not sure how much wider 25s are. A friend with a Z5 and...A23 rims (?) uses 25mm tires and I think the tire was rubbing the battery or something...forgot what he did to fix it. I think the Enve rim would be a little wider?

Have a Z5 with 6.7s and run 25mm Evo Corsa Tubulars. No issues.

Yeah the 3.4 and 6.7 are 24mm on the rear and 26mm in the front. So even if it works with 23mm tires (and potentially 25mm) it would be awesome!

A23 + GP4000 700x23 has barely any room to spare in the rear on my Z5Sli (hiii kram)

They balloon up to 24.8+ after stretching out a while. I had to offset my Di2 battery so it wouldn't rub under sprint efforts.

I'l go test ride it if a dealer have them nearby, thanks all.

23s or 25s? I thought you were using 25s...

Nope, 23s.. they turn into almost-25s after fitting to the wide rims and expanding after a few rides/heat cycles.

I am barely able to fit some vittoria pave 27 tubies on Belgium rims in the Z5, but it is very very tight.

where is clearance an issue first?
chain stays?
back of seat tube?
brake bridge?

Chainstays, they come to a V at the BB.

Edit: Well, more V than U. And the BB is narrower than BB86 and the chainstays stay round.

Well, and the chainstay mounted battery if you have one?

Just run 23s or else buy a mountain bika.

Oh, 25s are aight. 28s kick azz. You don't have a bika designed for 28s.

2012 Z5 with Zipp Firecrests here (tubular). Vittoria CX 23s are my go to. 25's are so close to the chainstays that the slightest deviation from dry, perfect roads results in grit grinding the frame. The only flaw (other than BB30 which I am philosophically opposed to but has been OK) in an otherwise perfect bike. FWIW, the ride is very smooth, so you won't miss the 25's and the minuscule performance you give up in rolling resistance is made up by a minuscule gain in aero. We all did just fine on 23s for decades.

Pick up the phone and call Parlee Cycles, 978-998-4880, ask for Tom or Bob, you will get your answer very quickly. Good luck.

I have a 2015 z5i. 303 firecrest and both Vitoria and conti 25s both fine for thousands of miles in rear.

Yeah, I did mail them, but didn't get any useful help—hence I asked here. But I think I'll just get the wheelset and then grab an older 25mm tire (since it'll stretch a bit) and then mount and see what happens on a ride around the block. But yes 23mm are fine too, but if I could fit 25mm I woul, since I had good experiences with it on my old CAAD9.

i stuck an a23 with 25c gp4k (measures larger than 25mm wide) in the rear of a '12 z5sli, just BARELY clears the stays, gonna try some 25's on a narrower rim and see what happens, or maybe just 23's on a 23mm rim.

I can use sworks 24c on da9000 c24s with no issues .. But since the op wants Enves my data is apples to apples.. They fit but they will rub from time to time with 25c gp4000ii
