What are some of the modern feeling bars with the older (26.0) clamp diameter? I've only ever had experience with 31.8.

I saw a thread where someone suggesed the hwy ones, any others out there?:

Ideally looking for somewhere around a 44cm width C-C, carbon or aluminum is fine with me as long as they are quality

Deda makes the Piega which is a pretty nice aluminum bar. They also have the Speciale which is a classic bend in silver.

Soma Highway Ones mentioned above are nice, come in black and silver, and are well loved by many. They are affordable too, so an easy expirement.

Dimension Double groove come in a variety of widths and aren't too ugly to look at, given they do have an anatomical bend. Reasonably priced , too. I have one on my spare bike. Can usually be found in stock at Jensen USA (no affiliation).

I like aluminum bars and stems in 7000 series aluminum. 6000 is heavier and cheaper.

Check out pb*bikes on eBay, he has plenty of new old stock stuff in the $4000-7000 range.

Nitto makes several. I particularly like one with both a shallow drop and short reach. I think it's the model M106.

Their new M151 is the best! Looks super classic too, with the sleeved center. But without the massive drop of yesteryear.

I've got the Soma HWY One on two of my bikes and am eyeing it for another that I'm building now. It's a great bar. The finish is nice a shiny on the silver model.

Had been a Forumite for awhile, IIRC. Then folks noted he was buying nice vintage stuff here just to flip on eBay.

Hey, he works really hard to find super rare stuff that no one else can or will find. You have to pay up for that. This is what he has stated repeatedly.

But, yeah, the VO Rando bars are great. The Course are nice as well and come in black too. Nitto makes a lot of great bars, some of which don't get imported to the US.

I don't think you actually do. In the past couple weeks I've bought three '90s-era NOS items on eBay -- each of which he has for sale, for between three times and four times what I paid. At any moment, a lot of his inventory is duplicated in other people's listings at much lower prices. He's had items I wanted real bad, and in two weeks or a month someone else offered one for way, way less, and I'd buy it, but just for curiosity I'd keep watching his -- a derailleur or brakeset would sit on his site month after month after month, while half a dozen identical ones were bought and sold... 'til I'd finally get tired of watching.

I'm totally down with the guy, though. I understand the impulse! I've got a bike I want to sell, only a fool would give $250 for it -- but I wouldn't take less than a thousand. So it gathers dust. Hey: he's ahead of me, I haven't even listed mine for sale.

And now, back to our regularly-scheduled 26.0 handlebars. I'll pile on with the Nittos, although I've gotten some tasty NOS Cinellis recently too.

Cinelli is now making modern repros of the old 26.0 bars. I've been using the Criterium model on a retro build.
