Just picked up today my circa 96 CSI from Bilenky in Philadelphia with new paint. Saw a color scheme from another Serotta hanging in his shop and loved it....so I had him copy it and decals. Don't hang me for not putting proper csi factory decals, but I love this bike the way it turned out. Campy Chorus 11 will be on it with custom wheels from Old Potatoe en route soon.

Outstanding. Bikes can be so personal, to have the frame and now the paint you want is killer.

I think it looks "right" for a classic Serotta steel bike and could easily believe it came that way as a Custom Serotta. I would love to see a contrasting color on a lug or two or the head tube and windows on the fork as well.

Nicely done! CSI with matching steel fork is as pure as they come.

Actually that is very "Serotta." Looks just like the Indy scheme they had. I had a Concours that is for sale now painted that way. Yours looks very nice and any Serotta fan will love it. Great job!! Matthew

Looks really sharp......and the pictures reminds me that the vast majority of CSI were lugged frames. Something I keep forgetting.

That is just awesome. I love panels. And I really like the single S on the seat tube instead of the full name. Classy top to bottom.

Hey Serotta lovers,

I stripped my CSI either - lots of people were saying dont do it because the paint was is really good shape but unfortunately I didnt like the color at all..

There is a real hidden treashure underneath the paint: you can see the golden braze: it is such an accurately painted line - incredible..

My question: I have to print decals soon.
Can anybody tell me the maximum width of the Serotta downtube and CSI decal as well as the chainstay ones?

thanks and all the best from an ex intern <3

Ron, I'm not sure what you mean by width. But here are the lengths of the decals on my CSI:

Down Tube - 10-1/8" or 255mm

Seat tube - 6-3/4" or 170mm

Chain stay - 4-1/2" or 113mm

Hope that helps.

After picking up an incredibly clean CSI this weekend, this thread has my full attention.

I'm riding this until I get a plan for the build, but the op's thought about Chorus 11 sounds inspirational.

PJM : thank you so much for the measurements!

Do the decals of gomango's CSI seem larger than usual?

all the best

That may not have been on the original Serotta palate, but it should have been. Very, very nice. I can see why you are thrilled with the results.

That is beautiful. I ymthink former Eritrea builder Dave Wages built an Ellis in a similar scheme.

Serotta had no ego when it came to customer's paint requests. They were secure in that respect that the heart of a bike wouldn't be eclipsed by the owners sometimes wacky paint (and even geometry) choices, including mine. So since ~1998 there has been no sacred "Serotta" paint scheme. The heart of a Serotta is not the paint, Although the OP's new scheme is superb imo.
