Are the head tube and top tube on the 54 long enough to get your bars in the right place?

be careful fixed..nothing worse than a bike that is close but no cigar.
set it up and ride it for a week or 2.
then do the deal if you dig it.

I've got a bike I ride with a 140 and its one of my favorite bikes. But you have to make sure, of course, that the firete would work for you or else you are wasting your time with it.

I bought a beautiful Hors Categorie without properly considering whether it would really fit me. If I had REALLY thought about it, I probably would have figured out that it wouldn't, but I was blinded by the opportunity to own such a beautiful bike....

Of course, the story ended in disappointment, as I couldn't make it fit no matter what I tried.

Think carefully about whether this is really your size, and if you have the opportunity to test it for a while, by all means do so.

Fixed, will you be able to position your seat far enough back behind the BB? Fierte's come up on eBay all the time. Wait for one that fits. I found mine, a nos frameset, for ~$500.

Fixed rides with a big bar-saddle drop. Fierte is designed to get the bars up. These two are not meant for each other.

If you are riding a 57cm. A 54 Fierte will be too small. Just to give an out of the pocket reference. For a standard geo frame, I ride a 56/56, and I have a 56cm Fierte which has a 55cm virtual top tube, it fits, though it is a wee bit close with a 110. I will likely go to a 120 so I can stretch out a bit. It is a sweet bike though.

I dunno man. Just because you like Serottas doesn't mean that anything out of Saratoga will work for you. If a 57 canny fits, it's hard to imagine that this bike isn't too small for you, even if there is some stem out there that will make the reach work. Bide your time and you'll find the right Serotta at the right price.

Fixed if you want a serotta look at newhorizonsbikes.com He has some good deals on closeouts, I think he still has an'03 56 concours with an f1 fork for $999 and I know he has several others as well. I've bought a ottrott and a hors from him and he is a decent guy. You may have to click the site map to find the closeouts.
