So this is one of those times where a small, seemingly insignificant piece spawned an entire build. Eric's post (http://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?p=1925438) on the Lindarets TanPan awhile back basically got the ball rolling...
I now have a Salsa Deadwood frame inbound to my LBS. I'm going to run Shimano RS685 shifters to an XTR rear derailleur using the above mentioned TanPan. My problem is now the front derailleur. Since the Deadwood uses a Boost 148 rear hub, the front derailleur needs spaced out to maintain chainline. Salsa specs the Problem Solvers direct mount boost adapter (http://bicyclehabitat.com/product/problem-solvers-direct-mount-adaptor-for-73mm-bottom-bracket-with-boost-rear-spacing-fits-34.9-with-shims-for-31.8-28.6mm-sku-fs1328-qc150.htm) to overcome this. Oh, and it needs to be top mount as well. What I need to know, and can't find, is which direct mount front derailleurs are capable of working with the Shimano 11 speed cable pull?
Salsa specs the Sram X7 HDM to work with Apex shifters on the complete build as an fyi.
I'm sure it will be suggested to run 1X, but that doesn't go well with what I have in mind for the bike. Honestly, the front derailleur doesn't have to work great, as it won't be used much, but it does have to work.
