The last wheelset I had built were 6800 hubs to h+son archetype rims, I really liked them but I'm not too sure about how hard it is to put a campy freehub on a shimano hub.

I'm a bit of a heavier rider at 185, and probably don't want to spend too much more than $3-400 as I really don't need a super light wheelset, more concerned with the wheelset being "bulletproof" than I am with it being lightweight.

Campagnolo Zonda's. In your price range from UK. About 1550 grams. No rim strip needed. Great hubs. I have the standard low ERD version for tires with tubes. Put tires on with fingers. Two way fit for tubeless a little tougher to put on a tire....but some have mastered it. 9, 10, or 11 speed.

I have a pair, about 5000 miles on them...never need truing.

I actually chose them over Shamil or Eurus. I wanted more common steel spokes. About any bike shop that can repair a wheel can put a spoke in a Zonda and get you going again. Put the correct Campy spoke in later.

Can't put a Campy freehub on a shimano hub. It works the other way. It's all about the diameter.

As mentioned, Zondas are the bang for the buck campy wheelset and you can get them with a shimano freehub. I'm a big fat guy and I've been trying to destroy a set since 2009. Just won't die.

Another Zonda vote.

$315 to my door in WI from the UK via Merlincycles. Very solid, tires (gp4000s II) go on super easily, and they are light enough -- at least for training.

Zonda here too. Totally trouble free for a 190 lb. rider. I was a little concerned early on with the low spoke count but proved to be a non-issue.

Are we allowed to keep piling on votes for Zonda's? Great wheels and incredible value for money

I just put a set of new zondas on my zank after retiring a pair from 2002. They are so smooth and roll well and climb nicely. Best bang for the buck out there. I beat the crap out of my old ones racing cross and everything else and they only died due to the braking surfaces wearing.

Very hard, as in not possible.

Miche hubs, Velocity, H+Son or DT(460) rims, Sapim Race spokes..right in that $400 range-PM me.
