My oldest sister has a cool husband. He is an Aussie transplanted to a small city just North of where I live in Victoria BC, Canada.

When I met him a decade ago, he was an utter couch potato. - the only thing that kept him in any sort of shape is his job in a warehouse. Otherwise, he would be happy to spend a day on the couch drinking beer and eating meet.

His love of beer and meat hasn't really changed, but what has is his attitude towards fitness - he has gotten into workouts at the gym, spin class and walking their dog.

He always made fun of me for my cycling stuff and this year, he took it up, so he is eating his words. I think he has a pretty great "why-the-hell-not?" attitude that will take him far in life :)

I might need to help him out with some slicks for his 200km ride on a 20yr old MTB. !!

I'm pretty sure they've done studies on this, and weight loss and fitness can be contagious.

d_douglas, your post makes me smile:

1. Its always a good time to see others get back onto the bike, its just the right thing to be doing.
2. Totally make me think of this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghRL9thv7kU

That Norco (which I have not yet seen in person) is gonna make for a looooong ride to Seattle. Not sure whether to intervene, or just let him enjoy the moment.

Perhaps also addictive?

Am I the only person who regularly commutes to work who takes a route which actually adds mileage to his ride?
