I have searched all sorts of threads for recommendations for which brake pads for carbon rims/wheels to use. I found a couple of recommendations for the yellow Swiss stop, the Reynolds blue ones, and I think another for Zipp's pads for Zipp's wheels. Now all of those recommendations are form 2013 (well the threads were) and it has been a few years since then and was curious what the latest "it" brake pad for carbon rims was.

The wheels are non-branded specific and am getting them from a pal who builds wheels for his own company. So not ENVE, Mavic, Reyonlds, Zipp et al.

Figured you folks would have a few suggestions. They will go in shimano brakes if that matters.

It will depend on what brake surface the manufacturer uses. There is no best brake pad compound for all carbon brake surfaces.

The ones you mention + black swiss are safe bets to work okay with most rims imo.

Reynolds blue, Swissstop Prince black and the cork pads from Boyd's all work pretty good. the reynolds stop almost as good as regular swisstop on alumimum. the boyds were surprising, they actually grip. reynolds, boyds swisstop if i had to put them in order.

Just got my first set of the Black Prince. LOVE 'em. Been using Swiss Stop Yellow until now. Can't see myself going back.

I go with what the specific rim maker suggests. After all, they know the composition of their wheel the best, and what compound will offer the best performance.

I just got my first carbon wheels.

So far I have tried SS black prince and enve pads. Still tweaking them out and need to toe em in because getting some squeaking and brake pulsing but the black prince are clearly the winner over the enve pads.

I have had best results with the cork pads on my carbon Bontrager wheels. Black prince pads in the wet were absolutely useless.
