I am building a Breezer Venturi that maybe clears a 25 in the front. I would like some recommendations for a tire that is not wallet busting, good on rolling resistance, and has some decent puncture resistance. I have used Strada's, Gatorskins, Kojacks, and a few others in the past but would like to try something different.

geeter pal, I have heard good things about the economical house brand tires that go by the name "Forte" at PerformanceBike.

If you hit it at the right time at some of the discount stores like PBK, the Continental 4000s II can't be beat in terms of value, quality and price.

Gravelkings are amazing. Cheap on eBay too.

Gravelkings ride amazing, but I had bad luck with them as far as puncture resistance goes. Commuted on them for a few weeks last year, and after more flats in a few weeks than in all of my previous riding time I relegated them to non-commuting duty. They don't stand up well to the crap that gets thrown at tires by Boston streets.

That sucks, I've been using 32mm in Los Angeles and they've help up great. Road debris hasn't been an issue, just steamrolls right over it no problem, no punctures yet!

You need MORE!!
I hear you but I keep telling myself until I burn up all the ones still sitting in their boxes, I am not allowed to purchase more...hmmm, what a change. I still remembered back couple years ago when we were living in Melbourne, Australia, I would run my Continental GP to the ground before I order another one. Now, I got like 5 sets of tires, all brand new, staring at me and I couldn't wear out the ones on the bikes fast enough. Different times. Not better. The end goal is always to RIDE MORE, not need more.

I like these:

Been riding them for years. Super puncture resistant. Nice ride.

The gravel kings caught my eye. Weisan pal, what kind of terrain did you have issues with punctures?

The race evos also look like a contender. I heard the GP 4000s run wide. I will be running them on a Velocity Fusion rim which is I believe about 19mm

vittorias with graphene.

baller option - corsa speed G+
economic option - rubino pros G+

they are both excellent.

Baller options are not usually my thing these days.........does the graphene make them more resistant to tears and lighter?

Naw -- higher fatigue resistance, more aero, reduces chain wear, prevents saddle sores, your bar tape stays cleaner, and you'll never crash.

It's the same thing ceramic bearings did, a short time back. But remember, graphene will stop doing this in a short time, and you'll only be able to get these benefits from protein-complex lattices.

Sorry to hear this has been your experience. I admit that I rarely flat regardless of what tires I am riding. But, I have been extremely happy with my 28mm gravel kings. There is a particularly bad stretch on my commute across a viaduct that is always littered with debris and broken glass. The gravel kings have not let me down yet, and I have been riding on them for close to two years. Just as importantly they ride great. Nothing like gatorskins, which ride like rocks in my opinion.

Another vote for Rubino Pro..don't think the OP mentioned a gravel tire or a fat tire..just a good road tire in 23.

I've been using Schwalbe One tires in 25 and 28 mm sizes for about a year now and they have been great. I see they also come in 23 mm, so just my 2 cents if you want to extrapolate between sizes. I know I'll buy the Ones again when I need new meats.

The 32mm Panaracer Paselas I run on the commuter are nice rolling tires with good protection. I would assume the Gravel Kings are worth a shot at that cost. I may just buy some myself....

I've been running the Forte tires for years and thousands of miles on one of my single speeds. The only flat I've had involved a 2 inch nail. They are on sale now for $9.

I've had good experience with Rubino Pro tires as well. Coincidentally, Excel Sports has the Pro II on sale for $19.
