Thomson stems are fine to use on carbon steerer tubes. I spoke to two people at Reynolds. They said that due to the tight tolerances of Thomson, they have no problem with people using them on their carbon steerer tubed forks. So there it is straight from the hors. . . manufactures mouth

As a huge fan of Thomson's products, especially their stems because of the drool factor, I'm glad I can still run mine on my O2 with no worries. BTW I have a note into Serotta directly asking their perspective on Thomson/O2 compatability. Hopefully it's a non-issue in light of Reynold's response.

I think the configuration of some Ritchie stems is also banned by Reynolds, but I read that Ritchie talked to Reynolds about it, and in the future Ritchie stems will specifically be exempt from the ban.
