I have to be honest, been trying to get one of those alters for years, I gave up maybe 2 years ago... :D

just wanted to see what people find interesting. stems seem like a potentially interesting item that you never see done in a unique way. a friend of mine has the alter, it's beautiful though it seems to lack an subtlety. though subtlety be damned, that cipollini stem already wins!

I have what is probably one of the few bikes with an alter and a pannier. No pin-up though.

Interesting where they place the fork clamping bolts. At the very least, less chance of scratching your knees on them.;)

Alter gets my vote too. Wish they'd update and bring it back in 31.8-1 1/8.
Cinelli's offerings these days look pretty lame.

"Mario Cipollini stem" was enough of a head-up for me. Maybe it's a generational thing.

ITM 600. Ibis Ti.

Perhaps the only threadless stem that is even remotely attractive is a Cinelli Grammo.

Those Alter stems were about the most flexy stem I've ever used. God-awful.

Pretty stem? Look no further than the Winter Bicycles threads and look for the one titled, Stems.

Stunning work.

Most certainly not!!! That is friggin' BEAUTIFUL!!! :)

In modern stems, I love just about anything Deda, though a recent poster reminded me of how beautiful the "dark metal polish" versions are....(well, were).....

wow, many great stems here! I've gone through my share of stems...some simple and beautiful, some big and bulky, love the quills but really like the easy adjustability of ahead stems.

heres what I'm using now...since its a time frame...I had little choice...

Cinelli 1A was the pinnacle of elegant simplicity. The aesthetic lines in this stem are unmatched and yet is also anachronistic when matched to a modern oversized tube diameter bicycle. Its time had come and gone.
